A family-owned business, 2nd Family began as a result of our own experience providing in-home care for a loved one. Ruth Seif (Cheryl’s mother) suffered from Alzheimer’s for over 7 years. With first-hand knowledge of the void between the level of care available and the level of care that we wanted for Ruth, we struggled with what to do. It was frustrating and emotionally draining. Assisted living was no longer an option due to the advancement of her disease and memory-care would have meant that Ruth and Harry, her husband of over 57 years, would be separated. We made the decision to bring Ruth and Harry into our home and provide the care ourselves.
