When my grandma was no longer able to live on her own and had to move to assisted living, it broke my heart. It was so hard to watch it from 5,000 miles away and her telling me over the phone that she would walk home if she could was one of the hardest things to listen to. My grandma was a most amazing woman. Kind and loving. Never said a bad word about anyone and always saw the best in everyone she met.
As her health deteriorated and she was getting to the end, I was so honored and happy I could be by her side. She was not treated very nice at the horrific hospital setting, crying with pain and the staff being mean to her. To them she was just another body. They didn’t know or care who she was her whole life.
When I founded Lenka’s Loving Care, my goal was to help one person die peacefully and in dignity on their own terms in the comfort of their home if they wish so. Surrounded by their loved ones.
I have accomplished that mission and with witnessing it all happen it kindled the need to help more people to have that choice. Few years later I created an amazing team of 18 caregivers that are always there for people no matter what their needs are. It was a big step into the unknown. It is stressful, unreal amount of non stop learning but I wouldn’t have it any other way. This makes me wake up excited and do my best every day. For the clients, the employees and for something bigger than just every day mundane work.
In every client I see a little piece of my grandma. Loving, beautiful, peaceful and ever so thankful for everything and everyone in their life.
This is not just a business to me. I put my heart in it every day and all the caregivers do too. That’s what makes us special. That’s why our clients say we are a blessing to them.
I won’t stop working hard to make other people’s lives better because that is what fills my heart.
