Craig and Joy Michayluk and Glen Schecter are the owners of Amada Ventura County, a business based on their long-held belief that serving seniors and veterans is a great privilege and a lifelong passion.
“Helping people has always been my passion, especially working with our veterans,” says Glen Schecter. “My dad was a WWII veteran and worked as a veteran’s advocate for more than 30 years. Thanks to his influence, helping veterans and seniors has been part of my life both personally and in business.”
“After being married, my wife Joy and I searched for a way to express our deep compassion for seniors by helping them improve their lives. We found our calling in 2007 when we purchased a 46-bed assisted living facility.” Explained Craig
Soon after, Craig and Joy started a home health agency with hospice care and a pharmacy. Their goal then and now is to “improve seniors’ lives one senior at a time.”
“Looking back on my life, I see how I was prepared for this calling,” Craig adds. “As a 16-year-old, I used to drive my grandfather around to appointments, to shop and to stop by the local bar for an occasional beer. My grandfather and I spent a lot of time together and we developed a great friendship. He would often refer to me as his friend, not grandson. That was a great privilege.”
