About Homewatch CareGivers in Englewood
Southwest Denver Homewatch CareGivers – A Family Legacy of Tender Loving Care (TLC)

Roger and Darby Rhodes were inspired to open their Southwest Denver home care agency in Englewood by their personal experience caring for Darby’s father, Dr. Thomas L. Coriden. In the process, they learned just how challenging it is to care for an elderly parent.

Dr. Coriden practiced tender loving care throughout his medical career and signed his patients’ casts with his initials “TLC”. He was a family practitioner who truly cared about his patients and treated them with kindness and respect, whatever their skin color or ethnic background. In his later years, Dr. Coriden developed dementia and other health issues, and when it became obvious that he could not live by himself, Darby and Roger moved him into their family’s home and cared for him for seven years.

Being with Dr. Coriden as he passed was an uplifting, positive experience. Darby’s father was not afraid of death and actually helped his family get through his final days. The time we spent with him at the end of his life taught us what an honor and a privilege it is to help someone pass in comfort and with dignity. At his funeral, two young doctors introduced themselves to Darby to tell her how much they had admired her father and how they had been inspired by him to become doctors and to practice medicine the way he had.

Now, Dr. Coriden’s TLC has been passed on to another generation. Roger and Darby own Homewatch CareGivers, and they only hire home care providers who can provide personal home care services to clients with the same kindness and respect practiced by Darby’s father.

The Rhodes family makes the promise to all clients and their families – “we will care for your loved one as if they were our own parent.” We truly embrace the notion that our clients, their families, and our CareGivers are an extension of our immediate family. That is why our motto is “Our Family Caring for your Family”.

Elder Care: If you have a need for elderly/senior home care in Englewood, Homewatch CareGivers understands that peace of mind is paramount when considering outside help. Know that our professional caregivers are continually trained to provide the best comfort, safety, and above all respect. There are many reasons for outside care: respite for a caregiving spouse, after surgery care, assisting with an elderly parent’s daily tasks, a watchful presence to avoid falls in the home, aiding those suffering from degenerative diseases or a gentle reminder for those with cognitive issues. Hiring a non-family member to come into the home is a very intimate experience not only for those needing help but for the families surrounding them. Because of this our guiding question is always “Are we caring for your parent as if they were our own?” The answer is, “Absolutely.”

Chronic Care Management: In this day and age, no one is untouched by the presence of cancer or heart disease in a relative or friend. The staff and employees of Homewatch CareGivers of Englewood know this on a very personal level.

We are painfully aware that chronic conditions such as diabetes, COPD and respiratory diseases are taking the lead in our country as silent killers.

As owners, we approach this with the ultimate respect by making sure that our caregivers are compassionate and skilled. We personally host support groups and educational outreach for families because we understand at a core level that quality caregiving is more than simply assisting. We believe it is enriching and enhancing the lives of the people that we are caring for as well as the families that love them.

Dementia Care: As owners we started out as family caregivers ourselves; caring for an elderly parent with dementia. That experience inspired us to open Homewatch CareGivers in Englewood so that we could help other families just like us. Because a vast majority of seniors have memory issues, our caregivers annually complete cutting edge courses in dementia and Alzheimer’s at our Homewatch CareGivers University. To help combat the effects of dementia and Alzheimer’s, our dementia home care focuses on healthy nutrition, social engagement, physical activity and mental stimulation with our special “Pathways to Memory” program. Skilled in-home care can be the difference between aging in the comfort of home or having to move to an unfamiliar facility.

Care for Degenerative Disorders: As the owners of Homewatch CareGivers of Englewood, we have immense compassion for those affected by degenerative disorders. We have personally navigated this difficult journey with our own family members and we know how crucial it is to involve outside help as the activities of daily living become more challenging. For this reason we make sure that our caregivers are specifically trained to adapt to the ever-changing symptoms of progressive disorders. We are equally proud to partner with the” “Parkinson’s of the Rockies Association” by participating in ongoing educational events, fundraisers and support groups.

We may not be able to cure these life-changing degenerative disorders but we can ease their emotional, physical and mental burdens by offering tenderness, patience and understanding.

After Care Surgery: The after surgery care we provide to those rehabilitating after oral maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, heart surgery, knee or hip replacement surgery, or laser eye treatment is customized to the individual’s specific needs and wants, the discharge plan received at the hospital, and is always sensitive to the diagnosis and condition of the client. Medication errors cause many re-admissions after cosmetic, dental, heart or other invasive surgery, so our caregivers can help your loved one to avoid medication errors by reminding them when and how they should take their medicines.

Care for All Ages: Most people today are extremely busy, and though they would like to, they cannot always stay home with their sick child, bedridden spouse or recovering father due to important commitments at work. Our caregivers are equipped to provide in home care assistance to promote independence while assisting clients with the activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, healthy meals, and more.

Choosing a Home Care Agency: Choosing a home care agency is no easy task, and every aspect of that agency should be considered, from their staff to types of care they provide.
