There are many differences between home health care and home care in The Woodlands. Home health is limited by the amount of time their staff is allowed within the home, usually an hour or two at the most. Home health care may address more medical needs such as wound care, medication administration, and IVs.

As an in-home care agency, we can work closely with home health care and provide services that are not limited to the amount of time we are with the client. Whether care is needed for a short period of time, to up to 24 hours, home care is there to keep people safe. We assist with activities of daily living such as: bathing, dressing, meal preparation, incontinent care, and we can also offer some nurse delegation tasks depending on the client’s needs.

Our caregivers frequently assist home health care, and other physicians. For example, if a client is getting physical therapy at home, we have the therapist train our caregiver in the exercises needed to be performed by the client to promote mobility and strength. In doing this, we can make sure the client continues to receive that care even once the therapist is gone. We also make sure that the client is prepared for sessions with doctors by making sure they are dressed, fed, and ready before the appointment.

Below are some other differences between home care and home health care:

Home Health Care

After a doctor’s visit or stay in the hospital, skilled care in the home is arranged in order to get you or a loved one back on your feet. Home health care includes:

  • Skilled nursing
  • At-home physical therapy
  • Pain Management
  • Caring for wounds
  • Prescription management

Home Care

Home care is about sustaining and maintaining your loved one’s quality of life in their home by assisting with activities of daily living:

  • Help with personal grooming like bathing or getting dressed
  • Help with moving around and getting in and out of bed or the shower
  • Medication reminders
  • Help with errands and chores
  • Companionship and friendship so your loved one is not lonely
  • Help preparing meals

We don’t just sit with our clients; we assist with activities of daily living needs, chores, and can even help with errands. With us, it’s about quality of life and we make sure our caregivers present engagement of life activities that stimulate the mind, and bring joy. We often take clients grocery shopping, out the movies, or to dinner to keep up their social life and meaningful connections with friends and family.
